TopCore Concrete begins every project with a thorough site evaluation, verifying elevations, drainage paths, and utility locates. We prepare and compact the subgrade, add base where needed, and set laser-leveled forms to achieve the correct slope for water runoff and accessibility. This foundation work minimizes settlement, cracking, and ponding while setting the stage for a clean, accurate pour.
We specify mix designs to match use and load, commonly 3,500–4,500 psi concrete with the right aggregate, slump, and admixtures for placement conditions. Reinforcement is selected per application—fiber mesh, welded wire mesh, or rebar—then concrete is placed, consolidated, and finished to your chosen texture. We cut or tool control joints at proper spacing and cure the slab to strengthen the surface and enhance durability.
From Driveways To Slab Foundations
Driveways, Sidewalks, Parking Lots, and Gravel Driveway solutions are built around performance and longevity. Driveways typically receive a compacted base and 4–6 inches of concrete with reinforcement sized to vehicle loads. Sidewalks are graded for safe walking, proper cross slope, and smooth transitions. Parking lots are designed by traffic type, using increased thickness, dowels at construction joints, and planned joint layouts. Gravel Driveway installs include grading, geotextile (as needed), and compacted base for stability and drainage.
Foundation Grading, Patio Installation, Retaining Walls, and Slab Foundations round out our offerings. Foundation Grading establishes correct elevations and drainage away from structures. Patio Installation includes broom, trowel, or stamped finishes, color options, and expansion joint detailing at adjoining structures. Retaining Walls are engineered with proper footing, drainage stone, filter fabric, and weep management. Slab Foundations can be conventional rebar or post-tensioned, with vapor barriers, edge thickening, and anchor bolt layouts per plan.

Typical guidelines include 4–5 inches for residential driveways, 4 inches for sidewalks, and 5–8 inches for parking surfaces depending on traffic. Rebar patterns (for example, #3 or #4 at 18–24 inches on center) or wire mesh are selected by load, and base layers (flex base or road base) are compacted to reduce movement.
Proper jointing prevents random cracking: control joints are placed at 24–30 times slab thickness (in inches) and aligned with re-entrant corners and openings. We manage slopes for drainage, follow accessibility requirements for pedestrian routes, and protect adjacent structures with isolation joints. Curing is performed via water, curing compound, or blankets to maintain moisture and temperature for the first 7 days, improving strength and surface performance.
Maintenance extends lifespan: keep heavy vehicles off new concrete for the first week, avoid de-icing salts in the first winter, and clean and reseal decorative flatwork every 2–3 years.
